About Pelion

Pelion is renowned for its stunning beaches and the traditional villages. It is basically a large mountain in central Greece, located in the south eastern part of Thessaly. The closest town is Volos, which has a port and airport, facilitating the access to the area.

Pelion has been famous since antiquity, as, according to Greek Mythology, this was the place where centaur Chiron trained many Greek heroes, including the legendary hero Jason. Today Pelion attracts tourists all year long, as it provides facilities for both winter and summer vacations. In winter, there are snow-covered peaks ideal for skiing, while in summer the place becomes a small heaven with golden beaches and crystal clear waters.

The most popular villages of Pelion are Makrinitsa, Portaria, Milies and Tsagarada. The most famous Pelion beaches include Mylopotamos, Damouchari and Agios Ioannis.
